Adi Weidenfeld jest adiunktem w Katedrze Innowacji na Wydziale Nauk Ekonomicznych Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Jego zainteresowania badawcze obejmują międzyregionalne sieci wiedzy, dywersyfikację regionalną, innowacje w turystyce oraz atrakcje turystyczne. Obecnie pracuje nad projektem OPUS, finansowanym przez Narodowe Centrum
Nauki, który koncentruje się na sieciach wiedzy w regionach. Adi intensywnie bada relacje między przedsiębiorstwami, regionami a procesami innowacyjnymi z perspektywy ewolucyjnej geografii ekonomicznej. Pracował jako starszy wykładowca w Wielkiej Brytanii i ukończył stypendium Marie Curie w Finlandii.
Opublikował ponad 140 prac akademickich, w tym ponad 40 artykułów (niektóre w wysoko ocenianych czasopismach, takich jak Regional Studies, Environment & Planning A, Environment & Planning C), a także working papers, zredagowane książki (4), rozdziały w książkach (14), raporty badawcze i referaty konferencyjne (Stowarzyszenie Studiów Regionalnych, Amerykańskie Stowarzyszenie Geografów, Instytut Małych Przedsiębiorstw i Przedsiębiorczości, Europejskie Stowarzyszenie Nauki Regionalnej) dotyczące powyższych tematów.
Brał udział w licznych badaniach, projektach przedsiębiorczych i doradczych finansowanych z zewnętrznych źródeł, w tym m.in. przez Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Scottish Executive, Cardiff and Co, rząd Walii, Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCFW), Federację Małych Przedsiębiorstw (FSB), Research Councils UK oraz National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA).
Koordynator Research Excellence Framework (REF) dla Szkoły Zarządzania. Członek Komitetu ds. Stopni Naukowych, Badań i Przedsiębiorczości Szkoły Zarządzania Cardiff Metropolitan University. Członek komisji awansów profesorów i wykładowców w Cardiff Metropolitan University.
